Professor Mehmet Zahid Sobacı, who has served as General Manager of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) since July 2021, has been reappointed to his position.
“As we have done over the past four years, we will strive to go even further in our achievements during this new term,” Mr. Sobacı said following the announcement of his reappointment.
Before joining the national public broadcaster, Professor Sobacı served for three years as Deputy Director of Communications at the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.
From 2019 to 2021, he was also Chairman of the Board of the Press Advertising Agency.
A prominent member of the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB), TRT is also affiliated with several international broadcasting organizations, including: the Mediterranean Center for Audiovisual Communication (CMCA), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), the Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean Audiovisual (COPEAM), the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), which Sobacı has chaired since 2023.
