For the 2026 European Heritage Days, the Alcazar Library in Marseille invites you to delve into the heart of the Mediterranean through two documentaries from the PriMed program – the Mediterranean Film Festival.
Organized by the Society Department of the Alcazar Library, in partnership with the Mediterranean Center for Audiovisual Communication (CMCA), these two screenings are free and open to all.
Two films to see the Mediterranean in a new light
The public will have the opportunity to discover or rediscover two documentaries that each, in their own way, explore the social, cultural, and historical realities of Mediterranean societies. Through the perspectives of filmmakers from diverse backgrounds, the films offer a deeper understanding of the transformations, memories, and challenges that shape the Mediterranean basin.

“Restored Pictures” is a journey through the life of Karima Abboud, the first professional female photographer in Palestine. Through her letters and photographs, the film offers a glimpse into the life and work of a woman during the years leading up to the Nakba.

For nearly thirty years, PriMed has been selecting and promoting audiovisual works from across the Mediterranean. Each film offers an opportunity to explore social issues, unique life stories, and contemporary challenges facing the region. With PriMed’s films, the European Heritage Days become a chance to share this diversity through the images and perspectives of the filmmakers.
