The Mediterranean Center for Audiovisual Communication (CMCA), in partnership with the National Audiovisual Institute (INA), successfully organized the 19th edition of its training course dedicated to writing television reportages based on audiovisual archives. The session took place in Marseille from 22 to 26 June 2026.
Designed for journalists from CMCA member broadcasters, the training enabled participants to deepen their understanding of the editorial, technical, legal and heritage issues involved in the use of audiovisual archives.
A Cross-Disciplinary Approach Combining Memory and Storytelling
Throughout the week, participants explored the collections of INA Méditerranée and became familiar with the principles of preserving, researching, selecting and enhancing audiovisual archives. The various presentations covered every stage of developing a television reportage using archive footage.
A Practice-Oriented Training Programme
Following theoretical sessions on audiovisual documentation, legal aspects and storytelling techniques, participants took part in practical workshops enriched by exchanges with experienced journalists from France Télévisions. They then produced a short television reportage combining archive footage with newly filmed material, with guidance from the trainers throughout the research, writing, filming and editing process.
The 19th edition was conducted in an excellent atmosphere and successfully achieved its educational objectives. The exchanges between participants and trainers were particularly dynamic and constructive, fostering a valuable sharing of knowledge, professional experience and best practices. The diversity of backgrounds represented greatly contributed to the quality of the discussions and the collective learning experience throughout the training.
CMCA and INA Méditerranée would like to thank all participants and trainers for their commitment and active involvement, which greatly contributed to the success of this new edition.
