THE 2026 PRIX ITALIA COMES TO L’ AQUILA

The city of L’ Aquila, Italy’s 2026 European Capital of Culture, will host the 78th Prix Italia from September 28 to October 2, under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic. Organized by RAI, this international competition annually recognizes the best radio, television, and digital content productions. More than 100 broadcasters from approximately 90 countries are expected, confirming the importance of this event in the global audiovisual landscape.

For the first time, Prix Italia will be held in the heart of L’ Aquila’s historic center, with a program combining preview screenings, professional meetings, and official competitions. This choice underscores the city’s role as a symbol of cultural renewal and dynamism.

Submissions are open until June 8 in the Radio & Podcast, Television, and Digital categories. Three special prizes are also awarded, including the President of the Republic Prize, the Signis Award, and the YLAB Award, given by students from universities and cultural institutions in Abruzzo.

The performing arts section is chaired by Corey Baker, an internationally renowned New Zealand choreographer and director.

With this 2026 edition, the Prix Italia reaffirms its mission: to promote international audiovisual creation at the crossroads of culture and innovation.
