On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the Mediterranean Center for Audiovisual Communication (CMCA), in collaboration with the DAAC (Academic Delegation for Cultural Action), hosted a training session on documentary film analysis.
The meeting was moderated by Raphaël Riuné, and featured Valérie Gerbault, General Delegate of the CMCA, who presented the image education initiatives carried out as part of PriMed – the Mediterranean in Images Festival.
Depuis plusieurs années, le CMCA s’engage aux côtés des enseignants pour les accompagner dans la découverte du documentary filmmaking and enable them to share the keys to understanding it with their students.
This training aims to provide them with the necessary tools to approach the creation of a documentary and analyze its challenges, particularly in the context of the Mediterranean Youth Prize.
The session was divided into two parts:
- a general introduction to documentary filmmaking (definition, history, writing, and film grammar);
- a practical application through a detailed analysis of one of the films selected for the Youth Prize.
Through this initiative, the CMCA reaffirms its commitment to image education and teacher training, two essential levers for developing audiovisual culture and critical thinking among young Mediterranean audiences.
